Texans - what is minimum I should expect to pay for a second hand car?

Don't live in Texas but if you luck out you can find a decent older car for around a grand that will last for a couple of years or so. When I bought my first car, I paid $1400 for it (about 2 G's in today's prices) and it lasted for 4 years.
