Why don't the red states just leave the union?

You do realize: The first thing the "red" states will do is eliminate federal requirements as to social programs...and then immediately send a fleet of buses to Machusetts with all those that cannot seem to manage to deal with that (with a note pinned to their collars that simply says "good luck in your new home").
