Why is it that dog killing, murder, and does NOT get one banished from pro sports, but BETTING DOES?

I mean...Pete Rose is treated like the Anti-Christ for betting, while OJ Simpson (murderer), Michael Vick (dog killer) and Ben Roethlisberger (rapist) get forgiveness! What's up with THAT????
